Following our recent CQC (Care Quality Commission) inspection we are proud to announce that the Practice has been given an overall rating of ‘Good’‚ noting several ‘Outstanding’ areas.

Would you like to save a trip to the surgery by having your repeat prescription sent to the pharmacy? Order your repeat prescription in the usual way and we will send it to the pharmacy of your choice. You can collect your items from the pharmacy or have them delivered to your door. Patient Access - With Patient Access you can view, book and cancel appointments, order repeat prescriptions, update personal details, view sections of your care record and send messages online. Your personal details are encrypted and protected using the highest Internet security, so it cannot be intercepted. Click here to register or speak to one of our receptionists.

The East Norfolk Medical Practice is planning to offer, by 31st March 2015, a secure online facility for patients to view areas of their care records such as summary of information relating to medicines, allergies and adverse reactions. If you require access to other areas of your record you will need to speak with a GP. Please contact the Practice to arrange this. There will also be a facility to download and print the information.

NEW GP - We appreciate that you may have be experiencing more difficulty than usual in obtaining an appointment to see your GP. This is largely due to the increase in demand for appointments, and so we are pleased to announce that a new GP, Sarah Flindall, joined us in April. Dr Flindall is an experienced GP having worked for many years in the Great Yarmouth area and will be working at our Newtown Surgery. We expect appointment availaibility with Dr Flindall to be good. If you would like to register with Dr Flindall please contact us.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE WAY YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS HANDLED – Under a new scheme called care.data, your GP will soon be required to supply confidential information from your medical records to a central database at the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC). Welcome to Newtown and Caister Medical Practice. We are a medical practice serving Great Yarmouth and Caister on Sea from sites in both locations. Our purpose:

Our services

We have a comprehensive medical team, comprising 8 doctors, a nurse practitioner, 2 nurses, 2 health care assistants and 2 phlebotomists. In addition we provide mental health services, counselling, smoking cessation advice and weight management programmes.

Appointments can be made via phone, in person at the reception, using our website or via Patient Access.

If you experience severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones call 999 or go to Accident & Emergency at the James Paget Hospital.

When our Practice is closed, your care is provided by South East Health Ltd. South East Health are a primary care provider, commissioned by NHS Great Yarmouth & Waveney. All calls to the Practice, outside of opening hours, are automatically transferred to the NHS 111 service but you can also contact them free by dialling 111.

Alternatively Greyfriars Health Centre opens until 8pm each day. Their address is 5 Greyfriars Way, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QE. NHS Direct also offer free health advice 24 hours a day. They can be contacted on 0845 4647 or via www.nhs.uk. Those with impaired hearing should call 0845 606 4647.
